Take it UP a notch. Updated. 

If you choose something- anything- each week, that you want to work on, to improve upon, etc.- at the end of 2010 you will have added or improved upon close to 50 habits. Think about that. 

I want to know- what is that you want to really CONQUER this year? Don't limit this to 1-2 things. I'd love to hear your top 5. And- this doesn't all have to be in the health/fitness area. 

For me, here are some of the things I want to accomplish:

 

  • Doing all of my workouts first thing in the morning. My "work life" is too busy now, and I'm too often required to attend events and dinners in the evening. If I don't get the workouts IN before my day starts, it is too easy for me to guilt myself into continuing on my business at hand, then I neglect my training. There is PLENTY of time for both. I can workout from 6-8am, start the day by 9am and have 10-12 hours available for work. 
  • Drinking more water. I've been so bad about this. 
  • Variety in my diet- balancing out protein/carbs in a reasonable manner. I need to try new things. And lately I have not been getting enough protein. Now that I'm back at training hard again, I know I should have a bit more. 
  • Stretching.
  • Yoga every week. I love it too much. 
  • Core/Abs work every week
  • Tracking my diet.
  • Tracking my workouts. 
  • BEING NICE AND ENCOURAGING TO MYSELF. No one does well with constant negative reinforcement, yet I am positive with everyone but me. I am SO hard on myself and - whether we realize it or not, when we do that, we are almost de-motivating ourselves. I HAVE TO WORK ON THIS. Attitude is everything, and that includes our attitude toward ourselves. 

Today's workout: P90X Shoulders & Arms. Killer. Did not do cardio after because it was late evening and I could tell the tummy wasn't empty enough. I cramp up so easy, for cardio, I have to have an empty stomach.

Pink Rocks P90X. DAYUM.

Hey Kids!!! OMG I am so glad to be home. I had a somewhat painful massage last night and Mr. Rene really worked on the right side of my back that I destroyed this week. I feel a trillion times better today. AMEN. 

Anyway, on the flight on the way home- I was reading the latest Women's Health magazine, with Pink on the cover. She has always been buff but recently she's really leaned out MORE and gotten very chiseled, and guess what? She does P90x with extra cardio daily!! Get the magazine to see more (it's not on the website for some reason). But I'm definitely going to be incorporating more and more P90X in my workout rotation.

Yoga. 

Today I did P90x Yoga. All of it. Whoa. I told you kids when I first tried it, I was like WHOA this isn't some wimpy 20-30 minutes of yoga. This is intense yoga. In the past, I'd bought yoga DVDs and then I'd pop them in and they'd just not do anything for me, plus they were usually like 1/2 hour. This is like a sweat fest and I'm not joking. 

The other thing I realized today about yoga that is an added benefit. You simply are acutely aware of anything on your body - UM THAT SHOULDN'T BE THERE - LIKE FAT. Because when you are twisted around like an upside down pretzel- and you are contorted into all which ways but loose, you get to know every single point on your body and let me tell you- I look forward to not only getting BETTER AND BETTER and stronger and more flexible but- to noticing each time I do it that I am leaner also.

It's like weighing yourself or measuring yourself~ it's one other way to STAY ON TRACK- to be aware of everything about your body. If you aren't watching and feeling it all closely, it's way too easy to veer off track and then have to really GET BACK ON TRACK.

Be aware of EVERYTHING. EVERY DAY. ALL DAY. Stay focused and don't lose track. Don't stop tracking- I am a firm firm believer now more than ever that the vast majority of us need to keep tracking- whether it's "diet" journals and/or weighing or measuring ourselves weekly - to stay on course and notice if there are negative variances.

WHOA. 

HOLY COW. First of all, I checked on my website and was like, dang girl, you've posted so hastily lately you haven't put up any motivational photos. Just saw some awesome ones on Krissa's site, so I thought I would look for new ones. Y'all know how much I think Val Waugaman ROCKS. Check out this woman's quads. Seriously. Other than Ms. Jenny Lynn, this woman is the shizzle. And I'm posting below my favorite, well one of my favorite videos from Val. Anyway, when I was doing the whole Google Image search, guess what I found out- I KID YOU NOT I HAD NO IDEA. Ms. Val Waugaman is also - an Independent Beach Body Coach like me!! HELLO!! Why?? She hearts P90X!

THE FIRST GROUP IS, PEOPLE WHO DON'T KNOW BETTER.
THEY HAVEN'T COME ACROSS THIS INFORMATION YET. THEY'RE STILL BUYING INTO WEIGHT WATCHERS, NUTRISYSTEM, HERBAL LIFE AND OTHER PROGRAMS THAT WORK AS LONG AS YOU USE THEM.
BUT I DON'T KNOW ANYBODY WHO'S BEEN DOING WEIGHT WATCHERS FOR 15 YEARS.
THEY’RE "WEIGHT LOSS ONLY" PRODUCTS THAT ARE TEMPORARY FIXES.
THESE SAME FOLKS ARE BUYING STUPID AB CHAIRS, AB LOUNGES AND SOME ROTATING PUSHUP STANDS. THIS STUFF IS SUPPOSED TO CHANGE YOUR ENTIRE BODY?
GIVE ME A BREAK!
THEY DON'T KNOW BETTER SO THEY GET TO BE STUCK.
THEN THERE'S CATEGORY 2
PEOPLE THAT COME HERE AND UNDERSTAND THAT EXERCISE HAS TO HAPPEN 5_6 DAYS A WEEK. VARIETY WORKS!
THERE HAS TO BE INTENSITY AND CONSISTENCY.
THESE PEOPLE ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT HEALTHY FOOD IS PART OF THE EQUATION. WHEN FOLKS IN CATEGORY 2 DISCOVER THIS INFORMATION THEY UNDERSTAND IT'S IMPORTANCE LIKE AIR AND WATER AND LIVE IT.
FAR TOO MANY PEOPLE (THERE ARE SOME OF YOU THAT ARE IN THIS CHAT ROOM) ARE IN CATEGORY 3
PEOPLE WHO KNOW BETTER BUT AREN'T WILLING TO APPLY THE INFORMATION.
IT'S LIKE KNOWING HOW TO BREATHE BUT DECIDING TO CONSTANTLY HOLD YOUR BREATH TO BE MISERABLE.
IT'S SUCH A BUMMER.

THIS GROUP OF PEOPLE ARE THE SADDEST OF ALL.
NOT FROM MY PERSPECTIVE, BUT FROM THEIR OWN.

Monday Manjoyment

Hey Kids!! How is your week looking? Mine? Honestly, it has started a wee bit on the sucky side, I'm a wee bit under the weather today. Sadness. Had to cancel my appointments downtown so I could stay home in bed. ;-( Waaah. I don't THINK I have my mom's cold, let's hope not. She was out of the count for days and days. I don't have time for that.

I hope you'll understand my wishes to um NOT VLOG today. I'm not feeling it. Yesterday, I'm a bit surprised I didn't post (is my brain leaving me?) because I wanted to share that I did P90X Yoga and WHOA WHOA WHOA. What an amazing yoga workout! Not surprised by the YOGA being amazing, I guess I was expecting a shorter, not as intense yoga workout. It's 90 minutes of really awesome yoga. I was drenched; not to the extent of Insanity drenched, but very sweaty. And there is this introduction part of the yoga video where Tony Horton says how much more he can do now in his life, as far as sports and activities and he said, "That's not because of the weight I lift or being able to do 100s of pullups, it's because I do yoga". Love that. I'm just so much more impressed with all the P90x and Insanity stuff by day. I had a massage yesterday and Mr. Rene was telling me he could tell the improvements in my body and he also said my face looked thinner too! 

The one thing that I have really come to believe as a KEY KEY KEY COMPONENT  to long term success in getting lean and staying lean is this; YOU MUST- IN WHATEVER WAY WORKS FOR YOU (be it weighing yourself or measuring yourself, and journaling your food) DOCUMENT WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND WHERE YOUR BODY IS. This might sound REALLY SIMPLE but when I observe other bloggers or friends that have gotten fit and are staying fit- they document everything even after they reach their goal. Some might gain 5-10 lbs but - THEY KEY IS- they SEE it and then adjust, get back to where they wanna be and then get a little more comfortable. If you don't pay attention, you WILL NOT NOTICE that scale creeping up. Trust me. You will not notice that you've gained a 1/2 inch on your hips or your thighs or your tummy. 

Then....that next week or month, you don't notice the NEXT 1/2 inch or 5 pounds...that's how we get in a bad place. Then when we do realize it - we PANIC!! Don't let this happen!! I know now for sure, FOR SURE, that I need to journal my food and my workouts day in and day out until God calls me home because otherwise, I wish it weren't true....I will give in here and there and lose track and soon I'm OFF TRACK. I will not go there again. I'm BACK. I have my mojo back probably better than it's ever been. But I've been WAY OFF for a while. I let life's drama get in my way. I was soooo worried that working out would make my skin infection worse and now I look back and wish I woulda just DONE IT. I don't think my own sweat would have made it worse and WHO KNOWS?? Looking back realizing you WASTED TIME is um, pretty sucktastic. Don't let it happen to you. 

Stay on top of your details. Track everything ~ in whatever way works for you. Make it a lifelong commitment and you won't regret it. I'm better at 40 than I was at 30, or at 20. I plan to be better at 50 than I am now. Watch me. And 60 and 70. Heck yea. Why not??? 

For the moment, I'm going to rest. I actually feel better already, thank God. ;-) More to follow!!

Amazing Little Piece Showing Importance of DIET. 

I think this video is amazing because it shows you- don't think you can BUY your fitness success. It's YOU that has to DO THE WORK and it's YOU that has to CONTROL WHAT YOU EAT and HOW MUCH YOU EAT. We all know- but it's worth repeating YOU CANNOT OUT-TRAIN A BAD DIET.

YOU HAVE TO COMMIT AND BE WILLING TO DO IT ALL. There is no quick fix. There is no easy way out. It's hard work and discipline but so worth it. I think this guy looks 10 years younger in his AFTER pictures. Do you agree?

Kids. How in the WORLD did we get through Monday without MONDAY MANJOYMENT?? Silly Rabbits. 

I had an AWESOME Insanity workout this morning! OMG this stuff is changing my LIFE!! I am sooo psyched! I love it all! I love Insanity, I love P90X, I Love Shakeology, I love my pull-up bar from P90X that I'm installing this weekend....I LOVE THAT I WILL BE DOING PULL-UPS. I love Tony Horton. I love his blog. I love the Recovery shake from P90X. I love lamp.

;-)

Ok, kids, it's late. I'm running behind as usual. Mr. Rene is coming over for Massage Bliss. Gots to go.

Happy Hump Day!

Hey Kids!! How was your hump day today?? Did you ROCK IT?? I know I did. My workout was AWESOME!! Woot!!! It felt so good to be in my house, after a TOTAL full night of sleep (WOW AMAZING) and in my own 'home gym'. Sweatfest, totally. I did #INSANITY Cardio and Cardio Abs (whoa......that's all I can say), followed by some upper body work via P90X. CRUSHED IT. Feels awesome.

My eats are ON and I'm gonna go through the Insanity Nutrition guide again so I can vary my daily diet and make sure I'm eating my meals. The past couple of weeks I've been so busy and I am not getting my meals in and then I'm like FAMISHED later at night. Not good. I have to be better at planning and spacing out my meals. MUST DO MUST DO. Still working out my scheduling, how I plan to do my workouts....stay tuned. How do you guys workout; morning? Lunch? night? 2x a day, 1x a day? Just curious.
