Monday Manjoyment!

Um. Who knew? I mean, really WHO KNEW that Joey Lawrence of (well this is MY last memory of Joey Lawrence from the early MTV years at least.):

 

would end up BRINGING the killer ab shot for Monday Manjoyment in 2010? Joey, I like your workout-side better than the whole "Nothin My Love Can't Fix Fo Ya Babay" thing. #JustSayin

Ok kids so I have like 30 seconds to blog today but check out my sweaty vlog-o-licious-ness below. That's right, this is my week of starting the Runner's World "Ease Into Running" program designed so that in 10 weeks you can run 30 minutes non-stop. Y'all have paid attention and know that I can already do a full mile, so I adjusted week one's plan:

  1. Week 1: Run 2 min, Walk 4, Repeat 5 cycles.
  2. Week 2: Run 3, Walk 3
  3. Week 3: Run 5, Walk 2.5
  4. Week 4: Run 7, Walk 3
  5. Week 5: Run 8, Walk 2
  6. Week 6: Run 9, Walk 2, 2 cycles then Run 8 minutes.
  7. Week 7: Run 9, Walk 1, Do 3 cycles.
  8. Run 13 Walk 2
  9. Run 14, Walk 1
  10. Run 30 and KICK IT UP A NOTCH!!

And, as I said in my vlog today......I have decided I am going to work up to doing a marathon. I'm going to do what I fear. I have feared running, feared not being able to do it. And I fear a marathon, that I can't do it. Screw that. I can do anything! God says I can do ANYTHING! I am UNSTOPPABLE.

Monday Manjoyment!

Bless his heart. He needs some wardrobe help. *Ahem*

So many of us were gabbing about this yummy gem, and I'd featured him in recent pictures of Fergie jogging, so here is Josh for your Manolicious Monday. Take some time and consider Exhibit A. 

Moving along! Um, what's my stomach status? Can I just say DAYUM? I'm really sick of this crap. UGH! As of today, I have eaten some rice with pasta sauce, and a banana. So far nothing terrible. We'll see. The worst part about this issue kids is that there is no way to tell WHEN I'm better except for AFTER I haven't been sick. See what I'm saying? I don't know WHEN it is "safe" to eat normal food?? And I think I mentioned that the results NOW apparently take 5-7 days not the 48 hours I was originally told. WHATEVER. 

Gotta run because I have to pack for this week's trip- and I'm taking my workout gear with me! I'm DONE letting salmonella get in the way of my workouts HELLO!!

Monday Manjoyment!

Good MORNING Kittens!! I have about 2 minutes to write this blog because....guess what my morning was like? I had to go to Urgent Care because I've been sick with horrid abdominal cramping, throwing up and fever since like Saturday night. Oddly enough, if you recall, on Sunday morning, I went for a run, then came back, had a turkey sandwich and it all started again. I kept thinking it was the turkey or something, I knew it was like food related. Anyway- all last night I couldn't sleep or really lay down- my stomach hurt more and I had to sit up. How ODD is that? By this  morning with a fever AND throwing up ( after drinking water only!) I hauled a** to the Urgent Care. She said they'd had other people in with symptoms like mine from the same restaurant we went to Saturday night! Both my mom and I had burgers and I just get creeped OUT thinking of getting parasites and salmonella from a piece of meat. I'm telling you it will be a LONG time before I have a burger again.

Anyway- they have me on medication to somehow lessen the cramping and pain. They did an IV because I was dehydrated and likely could be so in the next few days if I can't keep food down. They are running tests for salmonella but the two doctors said based on my symptoms and how my stomach felt it is. And apparently that's totally treatable. Either way I am PISSED. This medicine says I cannot "get overheated or exercise" while I'm on it! WTH! You KNOW I was actually considering not taking it so I can workout. But I realize that is sadistic. So I'll be a good girl. ;-( Sadness.

I do feel like 20% better after the IV, I must've been pretty dehydrated. She told me to try to get as much liquid that I can handle in my system. OY. That's all I have to say is OY.

So- I have to be in DC for work. Pray that I'm not gagging on the plane, I do feel like I might start getting better now with medicine and IV. But I had to share with you in case YOU experience something similar! Go to the doctor!!

Monday Manjoyment!

What's UP peeps? ;-) Have you had a great weekend? I have! Aside from the fact that I've been dealing with like a perpetual headache that is leftover from being sick all week, it's been nice. The butt-kicking first two "runs" this weekend also have me on a big high. I'm digging it, and I am LOVING all of your advice and pointers. I have yet to run into (no pun intended) anyone that says they used to run and hated it. Interesting. There aren't many 'workouts' that I've tried and not liked, other than step aerobics, because I am hopelessly uncoordinated. I love kickboxing, and have loved it for over 15 years. I love plyo now and also Kettlebells. I view running almost as its own category. All I know is, it feels GREAT so far, I feel muscles working that I don't normally feel (which is awesome) and it feels like a massive accomplishment to conquer my "fears" of running and join the in crowd, the runners, the elite. That sounds almost like a commercial doesn't it?

Question: I need to update my iPod and specifically I want some kick butt RUNNING music. I love me some Nickelback, Trust Company, Rev Theory, Finger Eleven, Disturbed etc. but I also love stuff like Brooklyn Bounce below. Sherry gave me some great recommendations, now you give me YOURS!!! 

So, today, I am taking as an "off" day. I let myself sleep in because as I mentioned above, I have had splitting headaches almost the entire weekend (don't worry, it seems to be the gift that Aunt Flo brings every month, killer headaches that even Excedrin can't touch. Annoying as hell too.) and really needed rest. Got up, went tanning (guess what? I do planks in the tanning bed now!) and I have a massage in about an hour. Two hours of bliss and I'm overdue, it's been like 2 weeks!! This girl is NOT the same without my weekly massage. You may have noticed a bit more pent-up energy...hmmm maybe THAT is why I have headaches! I'm in massage withdrawal! 

So later today I'm going to be with the family for a cookout. My dad is making his "killer ribs" although I can't speak on that because I'm not really a BBQ person or a ribs person. Like fried chicken, I just have no desire to go there. I don't think it is gross or anything, just doesn't tempt me like a piece of pizza can. Now I will tell you this, I am going to have some deviled eggs. INDEED. My mom makes those bad boys sing. Seriously. 

Question: What is your favorite cookout food? I'm all about the side dishes: Corn on the Cob, Potato Salad, Cole Slaw, etc. And I have never yet met a cheeseburger that I don't love.

Monday Manjoyment!

I'm NOT gonna lie. I'm still very much down with Rico Suave. I would so not have issues with him wearing this outfit on a date with me. I'm just sayin #CALLME.

For those of you that are not as old as me- meaning, you don't remember when MTV actually played MUSIC VIDEOS, here is something to consider. (WARNING: what you are about to see may alarm you as many of the early 90's fashions were high on Lycra, low on style, but we're talking Spring Break in South Padre ok?)

Ok, so how is your Monday so far? Are you making progress or excuses?? 

I've been hearing a lot of feedback from you kids here, on FB, via Twitter and email on a more sane approach to eating healthy and getting fit. Below is part two on my "ENOUGH" philosophy. I'm working on this every day. It's a work in progress, and one that I know I'll be working on forever. Seriously! I love food. I love to cook, entertain and eat. Training our minds to not view food as "Good" or "Bad" but as something to be enjoyed in moderation......it takes time, especially if you've been dieting like an obsessed fool for years, as so many of us have. 

Just remember, the overall theme to getting fit is very simple- EAT LESS, MOVE MORE. You have to figure out an approach that will work for you to do BOTH- and be able to live and enjoy life while you are doing it!! For me, ESE has changed everything in that respect and I am so grateful to Jackie @girlwithnoname for bringing it to my attention. 

This part of "Enough" is about NOT settling for "Good enough". My trainer Mr. Jay has a tattoo on his forearm that says, "NEVER BE SATISFIED" and I say Amen to that. I don't WANT to be one of those people that might, in my place say, "Well, I'm 41, I look pretty good for my age, and I'm FINE WITH THAT...." No, I'm not "FINE" with anything until I can say, "Holy cow, I have reached my personal best! Now I can truly say I am in a maintenance mode, which is just as much effort but a bit less pressure."

Until then, I am NOT SATISFIED and I will keep pressing on to make each week better than the last, to keep reaching higher and challenging my body and my mind.

Happy Monday kids. How is your day?? I'm in Detroit, because I just can't get enough of it. ;-) Riiiggghhthtt. 

Even though I traveled today, I still got my workout in. And yes, I had to convince myself to not "take a day off you've been traveling today...." WAAAHHH So what?? You have the ability to breathe, to walk, to MOVE....you take the opportunity get BETTER. I did Cathe HIIT 30/30 and then the Ilaria Kickboxing workout that I love so much. Burned 650 calories in an hour WOOT!! I think my Polar HRM though is going on the blink because it's annoying me. Keeps stopping. GRRR.

I have some pretty exciting stuff coming up you crazy bloggers. I'm coming to your town soon!! WOOOOOOHOOOOO!! Did you see the EVO Conference below?? Check it out and enter if you'd like to win!! ;-) I'm psyched. 

On that note, I must run, have a jam-packed day tomorrow. But- um yes I will still workout. And I will eat on my plan, my own plan that is kicking butt. I was with family for my niece's graduation this weekend and it felt soooo great to have so many of them notice on Saturday night how much weight I've lost!! Bikini, come to Kelly, because I embrace you now!! I embrace you!!!

Enjoy Mr. Tony Horton today Kids. I know I do. Do you understand why I love P90X so much? I also want to state for the record that Tony should CALL ME because I might consider dating him. I'm just sayin.

Monday Manjoyment. 

Um. Yummy. 

Happy Monday Kittens!! How are you? Wow, I haven't even looked at my FLIPPING MAILBOX yet ok? I need a 10 day week. And a 36 hour day. OK?

I'm going to have the most stellar week and the most stellar month of May and June. Summer is going to be FUN again because bikinis will not be a bummer moment like last year. NO WAY.

Anyway, I'm posting this at almost 9pm at night, to tell you how my day is going. Gotta be up early so, I can't share more of myself with you today. Don't cry. There there. Know that I am here for you, just like Evita. Don't cry for me. Wait, please cry and send Krispy Kremes. APRIL!! 

Be back tomorrow- oh and yes, I had a kick butt workout today- Insanity with Shoulders and 810 calories burned. CALL ME WARRIOR. Amen.

I've just decided that I'd like my own Gladiator-Man-Pet. He needs to dress like this all the time though. WHAT?

Monday Manjoyment

WHAT?

Good evening my patient kittens!! How was your MUNDAY?? 

I had another jam-packed, rip-roaring, butt-kicking Monday. Hmm. What exactly does "rip-roaring" mean anyway? The more I say it out loud, it kind of sounds inappropriate. Insert Awkward Moment of Silence Here.

Today is Monday. Today is Fasting Day #1 for this week. Today's workout was Cathe HIIT 30/30- here's the thing about those HIIT workouts....I tend to stick with the 30/30 when I am doing a split workout i.e. cardio first then weights....because all of the Cathe HIIT workouts tend to burn the same amount of calories, about 200-225 in 25 minutes.....so I stick w/the one I like. Then I did P90X Shoulders and Arms for a total burn of 622 calories! WOOT!

Also please note, when I workout on a fasted day, I noticed absolutely no difference in my stamina or energy. Kind of cool. Remember, on the ESE way of eating, you only fast a max of two separate 24 hour periods per week. The other days you eat nothing but Krispy Kremes. hehehe

YUMMY. Although I'm not gonna lie, I am NOT FEELING that yellow THING Nelly wears on his head in this video. I'm gonna need you to go ahead and um.......yeaaaaa.

Also here is that new girl group I LOVE. But I just found out that they aren't a new group. I'm just lame and only discovered them now. Enjoy.
