YOU CAN'T STOP THIS.

OMG!! Let me tell you how psyched I was yesterday. Why? Because I KICKED SOME SERIOUS BUTT people. And it FELT AMAZING.
I'd been in DC- as you might already know. Had to get up at 3:30a.m. on Thursday morning to hit a 6am flight out of ORD into DC. Landed at 9:30a.m., had a meeting at 11am-2pm, another meeting after that, then a conference call and a dinner. Got to my hotel room around 7pm and.....felt a sore throat coming on. That bites. I've told you guys, when I feel the hint of a cold coming on, I know my body. It is time to simmer down! It is time TO GET REST. Sleep is SO important for all of us and I know it better than anyone. When I travel this much and get run down, usually, USUALLY a good night's sleep and some extra Vitamin C will turn that thing around. Either that or when Huge Jackman flies in to read me a goodnight story and feed me some scrambled egg whites. WHAT? So, much to my displeasure (I had packed 2 days worth of workout clothes), I took Excedrin PM and went to bed. Woke up feeling close to 100% better.
I went to that hotel gym and OWNED IT. Guess what??
I RAN FOR 32 MINUTES STRAIGHT!! OMG!!
These are big milestones for me. If you recall, at BlogHer in NYC I ran with my new BFF Renee in Central Park and that was my first time running for 27 minutes straight no stopping. Renee pushed me and said "You Can Do It". And she gave me such great pointers on running form and speed. So, earlier this week I wanted to do it again....I mean, if I am already at the point where I CAN do 30 minutes, why not keep training at 30 minutes and slowly get my speed up, so my 5K run is stellar?? Y'all might now I have chosen to do the 1/2 marathon in Chicago on Halloween- as soon as I confirm I can be back in Chicago. I'm in Toronto speaking at the UnGeeked Elite Conference the 28-30th so I'm pushing it.
Anyway, I got on the treadmill and warmed up for 4 minutes at 4mph. Then I went to 5mph for my whole run. Wow, on a treadmill, 5mph seems a LOT faster than I thought. I mean that was my perfect pace. I just kept running and when I had hints of cramping, I did deep inhales and long exhales. I kept visualizing that I was chasing Huge Jackman through Central Park. It Worked. Then I did some weights for Back/Biceps plus some walking lunges, kicks and overall badasseryness. 850 Calorie Burn.
And to the man in the hotel gym with the funny glances, I say this. I AM YOUR DADDY.
It feels so good to keep getting better!!
And here is what I am saying. I want a kick butt treadmill. That was AWESOME running on the treadmill (not that I only want to do treadmill, but I want that option). I'm gonna have to ask my besties at the Sears(R) Fit Club which one to buy, since Sears(R) has the best selection of Gym-Quality treadmills. Next question will be where do I put mine? Oy.
Question of the Day for Runners: Do you think with my training I should only run 30-35 minutes every time now and get the endurance/speed up OR try to run a bit longer each time, increasing by like 2 minutes a day??
Question Of the Day For Everyone: Do you count calories, or just "eat clean"?
Vlog will come later today. For now, since I'm heading out on my run, enjoy this kickbutt awesome music from Disturbed. Always gets me moving.
