Sunday Zen.

Happy Sunday Kittens!! I had to come in here and get a post up before I head out- going to see a movie in a little bit. I had ordered a new Yoga DVD set, after discovering it on Amazon and was really excited to see if I'd like it. And....in one word YESSSSSSS. I only went through the first video today but it was so good (in my opinion) I had to share a review.

Now, a little background. Y'all know I LOVE THE SPICE GIRLS. I am a BIG FAN. If you say you don't love that sassy spice music, you are missing OUT. Anyway, back in their day, Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) was one of the more spicy curvalicious ones of the group:

That's her second from the left for those of you not living on this planet back in the day. Geri had a fabulous figure, but was always more on curvy side (which is also hello my tendency, when I gain weight, I get more curvalicious all over). ***Please please please note in NO way am I saying that back then she needed to lose weight. This blog post is more about 1) the great Yoga DVDs she has out and 2) how much a person's physique can change with diet and exercise. We all have to find what is a happy body spot and a happy/healthy balance for US.

Some people find they'd rather be 5-10 pounds heavier and enjoy wine or desserts on a regular basis. Others would rather have 15% body fat and be VERY strict and diligent with their diet and training.

After leaving the Spice Girls, Geri came back with a solo album and looked totally different. For the record (no pun intended) I loved a ton of her music:

LOVE that song. Plus you can see she had a bit of a different physique already and then later on....holy crap I saw this video and had my jaw drop to the floor.

Serious. Girl. Crush.

So....as you can see, her physique changed DRAMATICALLY and to this day, she has a great figure:

And yes she's had kids. Shoot me now. Anyway, I'm gonna reiterate again that I don't think her "before" look was unhealthy- she was just more curvy all over. I think it is remarkable how I bet a lot of people back then would have said (if she ever stated wanting to lose weight), "You are in great shape! Don't lose any weight, or you'll be too skinny!". Some of you might find her phsyique now a bit too lean--we are all entitled to aspire to or admire whatever WE like, but let's just not dispute she is in flawless shape.

That said, I had heard she was big into yoga and running, so when I stumbled on not one but too yoga DVDs she had out (she is a participator not the instructor), I had to try it out. I read some reviews on Amazon that said she was a bit too chatty in the first one, but after doing that one today, I can tell you- if I was doing this DVD, I'd probably throw in my comments like SHE did-- it seems she's wanting to speak to the newbies, to encourage them that it gets easier as you go....I didn't find it annoying at all.

These are some screen shots from the first DVD and the instructor is Katy Appleton. Find more out about her background by CLICKING HERE.

I'll do a bit more review on a vlog but suffice it to say that this is a VERY VERY THOROUGH DVD with Katy instructing and showing advanced poses with Geri and beginner options with another girl. This is very very much an instructional practice with a lot of explanation.....I would highly recommend it, and I can imagine as I continue doing it, when she stops to show beginner poses I'll just focus on the advanced version. I'll also review the 2nd DVD as well.

**Very good for women because she explains how certain moves can ease cramps and such and what to avoid doing when Aunt Flo is visiting you. Good Stuff.

This is a clip from the second video, but it gives you the idea of her style (and her great accent HELLO):
