You Can BRING IT, anywhere.

I think I can help this man. I can offer to be a rock for his next workout. I'm flexible that way.

WHAT?

One of the themes you might have noticed lately in my blog is "No Excuses" and also the whole concept of "Working Out Anywhere, AnyHOW" - meaning, there isn't only ONE way to get fit, by using a gym and a personal trainer. You won't believe how often I hear this as an excuse. "I don't have a gym membership!" or, "I don't have a trainer to motivate me!"

WAAAHHH. Whiners are wimpy. Quit WHINING and start WINNING.

Throughout the year, I will focus on how you can workout, get fit and healthy anywhere, any time, "anyhow". I LOVE the gym, don't get me wrong. I've also said that my dream is in the future to have my own killer home gym like Tony Horton's gym. His looks DREAMY. As does he. WHAT? But, you can get ripped and chiseled at home, even outdoors, weather permitting. And don't even start whining about not being able to afford this or that. Yes, I love fitness DVDs and yes, you have to buy equipment for a home gym. Guess what? You own it forever!! And while I will feature some equipment that is pricey, that doesn't mean you can only get buff using THAT!

Take a peek here, from PopSugar:

Wow. Here is a celebrity couple, who has "a ton of money for personal trainers and a private gym" (Excuse #11) and they are OUTSIDE running and doing push-ups, amongst other things. I told you how excited I was to find these killer stairs at the high school around the corner from me, and now I found a great track at another school. Outside is a GREAT place for walking lunges and to do a lot of fun LOUD moves like throw-downs with a weighted ball. KILLER. Do that at home when you live above another condo and....(well yes I do that on purpose, but that's because I have neighbors from hell that deserve it).

Who says you can't workout on the beach? When we visit Miami, there is an AMAZING running path all along the beach, fenced in and wow what a view. I'm gonna make sure I take pictures of the hot sweaty gorgeous fine young men working out on the beach in Miami making you wonder why you EVER made an excuse for not working out, even when it's "hot and muggy".

Think of everything you know that you can use to make up your own mini-circuits outside- Tabata Drills, sprints, conditioning, you name it. Get creative, channel your inner bad self and make everyone stare at you doing a killer workout while they are making a trip to Krispy Kreme and getting FAT. Work it, OWN it.

Oh wait. You can't go outside because it's cold?

No excuses. Get out there and OWN IT. Create your best body ever. I know I am and it feels GREAT to look better in the mirror every single day.

Below is a video on TRX. I really have to get this- I know Skwigg loves it. I like how you can use it indoors or outdoors too. Killer.

Question of the Day:  What is your favorite outdoor workout? Do you have anything creative that you do outdoors to add to your training?

Turning The Corner Feels Great.

Happy Friday Kids!! Today is the FIRST day since last Saturday (holy cow) that I felt I have finally "turned the corner" on this food poisoning thing. DANG!! As of late as last night I was still getting horrifically sick. I tried to eat a baked potato and you'd think I'd swallowed a bottle of lighter fluid. I cannot get over how awful food poisoning/salmonella is! My friend wrote me on Facebook today saying a mutual friend of ours had salmonella for 4 weeks! #Uncomfortable

Anyway, I put up that picture above because, well, I wanted to focus again on running, because even though I've been OFF for 5 days (could obviously NOT workout while in the midst of this illness), I am just SO READY to get back on it- hopefully tomorrow. What I need is an armband like above for my iPod- any suggestions for good ones?- and this makes me wonder how many runners bring a water bottle or recovery drink with them? I guess running on a trail is different. Now that I'm using this track, I have my car parked right near the track and I can keep my water etc. with me.

Question of the Day for fellow runners: do you drink a "recovery" drink immediately after a run? I think I mentioned, as much as I am NOT doing protein shakes and supplements necessarily, I DO definitely feel in "need" after a run of "replenishing" so tell me what works for you.

I'm going to dive into my new book from Runner's World this weekend and keep you posted on what I learn!! ;-) I'm staying in tonight- was supposed to be at a great Jonny Lang concert at House of Blues but I'm just seriously not well enough yet. While I feel that I'm finally on the road back, I'm just not there yet totally. Bummer. But tomorrow is LILITH FAIR and I'm so psyched!! WOOT! Stay tuned to my Posterous stream for photos!

TGIF. Happy Holiday Weekend!!

Hey Kids!! I'm Back!!! I FINALLY feel like I am better today....was still kind of sick when I got up but finally by the evening I was feeling about 90%. Amen. I sooo appreciate my health!!

I am so looking forward to my first holiday weekend that I can really enjoy- I'm not out of town for work-related stuff, I'm in town, I can CHILL. And workout!!!

I went out this afternoon and got my kickbutt running gear!! My BFF Amy told me I had to get the UnderArmour sports bras. Amy and I are both "gifted" in the boobie area, if you know what I mean. (Hi April) What I love about the ones I got (Click Here if you want to check them out) are that they ZIP in the front. I had tried about a year ago to buy some sports bras and when you get them without a zipper like this, you might want to save about 3 hours to GET INTO THE DANG THING. Seriously.

They had some Nike tops on sale, I also got some Under Armour running socks and two different brands of running shoes. Guess what kids?? WTH my feet have grown apparently. I wear a size 8 shoes and the guy at the store told me to go up a size for running shoes so I tried on 8.5 and my toes were punching out. Tried on 9s, still too close! WTH!!!!! I bought size 9.5 in running shoes?? Without socks they are big on me, but he said buy bigger, and I have to agree. I think in the past I've bought my shoes assuming I was still X size and then I'm walking around the gym with my toe sticking out of the shoe. Just like bras ladies, the right size matters!!

As usual, after I've been gone a while, I went VLOG nutty. Enjoy the babbling below about Park City, being sick and crabby, getting better, running and new goals for Part 2 of 2010~
