Just One Step.

Just one step at a time is what you focus on-- to get further. I don't remember where I heard this simple phrase or read it but essentially the takeaway was --- don't focus on how far you have to go. Focus on this first step you have to take. Do that first step. Do the second one, which is easier because you've already done one. Pretty soon, you've run a mile. Or you've done a pull-up, or a two minute plank hold, or a yoga pose that you couldn't do before.
Stop focusing on the top of the mountain and focus on your first step up.
Simple. Truth.
It's been frustrating for me to focus on one step instead of obsessing about 1) how much time I've "wasted" the past couple of years and 2) how far I think I have to go. And this means I've spent too much time thinking about regret and thinking thoughts of "how will I ever do this??" instead of "I've GOT THIS."
This is how my attitude and my outlook has changed. I'm focusing on TODAY. On what I KNOW I CAN DO. Nothing else. I'm not running your race or doing your workout or desiging your body. I'm working on my body and finally treating it like a temple.
And it's on the way to looking like a temple. ;-)
Feels good.
I'm in Disney- have to share that I didn't sleep at all last night-- won't go into the details why but I am thus heading to bed early. But we are down here for the Princess Marathon. My #fitfluential girls - about 10-15 of them are running and I brought my video camera so stay tuned for highlights.
Also packed my protein powder, my GNC blender, my Genetix HD, my vitamins, etc. It's on. I deserve it.

Such an encouraging post! Thank you! I am almost half way through a very intense 90 day fitness challenge... and this was a very timely reminder to stay focused on each day and one step at a time rather than how far I have to go! I agree, my body is a temple and it is (with one step at a time) starting to look more and more like one too. Thanks for the encouragement!
;-)
She needs to turn her hands around for a real pull up...just sayin!
I just posted something similar on my blog. I only worked out 2 days last week. Instead of beating myself up for not getting in 5 days, I reminded myself that I am 2 days closer to my goal than I was before.
From the looks of it on all the blogs, I think you all might be having a bit of fun there at Disney! Believe me, you left just in time for all this snow. Blah
