Focus on the Future.

KAPOW! Were you wondering if I crushed it today? Um, YES I DID. Although today was not a running day, I gotta tell you kids, I enjoy running more every single time I do it. Of course I'd love it even more if I had Hunk-O-Licious Bodyguard (like above) running with me. I could run for hours.

I'm getting packed for my trip tomorrow so I don't have a WHOLE lotta time, but here I am giving you some bloggy love. What's up with that?? I'm a giver.

Today was feeling a little LOW, I had a little post-MENS-Stress going on and felt big as a house. Wanted to throw in the towel and whine. But I had that inner conversation with my Lame Self. I'm starting to view this Ms. Lame Self as a person, in fact, per the suggestion of Amy, I've imagined this Lame Self to be someone I hold a lot of say, (trying to be positive here) DISTASTE for in my real life. So, now when I start to doubt myself or get pissed at a part of my body, I imagine that this Lame Self is this person in the real world that I would throw over a bridge stick my tongue out at, and I act as if THEY are saying those words to me. Why? Because guess what? If some jag were to say, "OMG Kelly, you may as well give up now, you're NEVER gonna get more fit, LOOK AT YOU, you look GROSS", I would roundhouse kick his a** and then step on his face as he lies on the ground quivering. I'd say, "I'm sorry, WHAT did you say I cannot do?? I didn't HEAR YOU!!".

So if I wouldn't let another person talk to me that way or ruin my attitude, why do it to myself??

I am ELIMINATING the negative messages in my life.

  • I am focused 100% on the FUTURE.
  • I am focused on what I CAN DO not what I think I cannot do.
  • I am focused on the victories I already have, not what I have yet to accomplish.
  • I will not pick myself apart in the mirror every day, looking for what is still sucky on my body. I will review my progress ONCE per week. PERIOD.
  • I will speak positivity to myself every single day, because I CAN DO ANYTHING.
  • God gave me this body and this mind with unlimited potential and I will not take that for granted.
  • AMEN.
  • Can I get an AMEN???

I am heading to Lake Tahoe for a conference tomorrow morning. I am there for 5 days and the HIGH temp will be 55 degrees. I am PSYCHED. I really have to find a solution for shooting/uploading video on the road. The challenge at present is that I shoot the vlog but my "high speed" connection is not high enough for file sizes of 350mb. I wonder if I get a flip-cam and shoot shorter vlogs on the road if that will work- THOUGHTS? Deep thoughts only please. Cuz I'm deep. hahahah

Question of the Day: What is your biggest excuse for missing a workout?

Hi Kelly,

Thank you for sharing with us your aha moment! I have often said to myself what you put in your mind can be just as important as what you put in your body. Surrounding yourself with negativity whether it is yourself having negative thoughts or others making some kind of negative comments to you, can be a very detrimental situation. It is good to see that you have decided to build yourself up by repeating positive affirmations and statements. I hope that other people who read this post take your words of self-encouragement to heart. I also hope they think twice before degrading someone for any reason because words are powerful.

Take care and make it a great day!

What's in that drink? I think I want some. Drinking with the cap on, slurring you speech, must be good :)

There are no excuses for me to not exercise. I lie...after my run yesterday I was in bed sleeping most of the day..thanks FLO. I'm up this morning though to make it up!

Excuses for missing a workout? I have none because....I rarely ever, ever, ever miss a workout. We're talking decades here! I'm a machine. :) It's like water or air to me, I need it to feel human. I've just gotten myself so ingrained over the years with the idea that it's as necessary as brushing my teeth that I have to actually be sick to not fit my workout in. So, if there is occasionally something crazy that makes it impossible - like spending a night in the emergency room with someone & not getting any sleep - I don't feel any guilt because I know my body probably relishes that surprise day off.

I love the idea of talking to the negative Ms. Lame Self and putting her in her place. I've got ammo to fight her off this week - for the SECOND time this week, someone was talking to me and wound up looking shocked & telling me they thought I was 30, 32 at most... YES>>> I turn 47 in October! WOOT. I also ran into a couple of female acquaintances that hadn't see me in a long while who did the "up down" thing and said, "Wow, you look great!" My own personal Lame Self can chew on that! :D

GLYNIS- first of all you are the definition of BadAssChick.com - I want to get to that point where I can say I never miss it. I always WANT to but the main thing that gets in my way is travel/work. No excuse. Also love that you are mistaken for 30-31. Great isn't it?? ;-) April that drink is awesome and I will post ingredients- will email you anyway cuz- you wanna hang with Jenny Lynn and train right? Um yea. Stay tuned.
Amanda, thank YOU for leaving such a great encouraging comment!! You rock!!!! ;-)

I'm with Glynis..unless I'm seriously ill or healing something major, I have to do SOMETHING-even when I was away for holiday this last month, even though I only went to the gym once (to give my body a break from the weights-fully intentional)....I still jogged regularly. I can't not move the bod-it's definitely embedded in my being, if that makes sense.

Good on ya for kicking the negative stuff out! I actually tell my clients no negativity allowed when the come into my studio to train- I hope it carries over into their other activities. :-)
xoxo
