Game Face ON!

What's UP kids? How was your weekend? I'm just gonna go ahead and say it. Call me crazy, but I'm ready for Fall weather. I know, I know. I am not sure why, but I really only ENJOY hot weather when I'm on vacation, laying out on the beach, with a Cabana boy named Juan bringing me cocktails that look like this:

Oh Hot DANG!!! I'm counting down to my Miami trip NOW!! (6 weeks!! WOOT!)
So, anyway, yes, I'm ready for Fall. And then for several vacation escapes that will include the above adult beverages and a LOT of shopping. Amen.
My BFF and her daughter left today, and sadly we forgot to vlog and get them to join me. OOPS. But I was pretty proud of myself that I worked out each day that they were here, as you know! See, you CAN fit in your workouts even with a busy schedule, with kids around, with out-of-town guests, you name the excuse, I will knock it DOWN!!
Um Day #2 of no soda!! and no artificial sweeteners!! KAPOW!! I mention in my vlog below how happy I was to "re-discover" my Arbonne NRG Fizzy Tablets, to add to plain water to make it taste good and fizzy and "control appetite" (not that this is why I'm adding them but hey, I'm down with that.) If you are interested in getting some, you can order from my Arbonne website by CLICKING HERE.
Week #1 of my Running Training is DONE and I feel GREAT. So loving it, and as I mention in my vlog below, I now want to focus on of course continuing my training and planning for a 5K and then a 1/2 marathon and a REAL marathon eventually, but also balance with my weight training and such.
ALSO CONGRATS TO MY BFF @AmyLBurford who ran her first 1/2 marathon today!! WOOT!!! DANG girl, she just started running end of April!!!
Have you noticed I am no longer asking questions about cramping with running?? It's gone! See what a difference it made that I have FRIENDS both here IRL and in my bloggysphere to help guide me.....that my body just needed to adjust to the high impact and such. When I was just "winging it" alone (prior to when I was blogging) I gave up too soon. I am SO glad I faced my fears of not being able to run and did it.
QUESTION OF THE DAY: What (fitness-wise) have you conquered as far as fears or doubts?? Is there still something out there that you want to conquer/try?
I have a second question of the day too, now that I think about it. Who is like a major motivation for you? For me, with running, and perhaps in general, it is these two kick butt chicks:

Jessica Biel and Rene Zellweger. Oh crap. One more question of the day, for you runners: What brand running shoes do you love and why?

Good for you for finding new ways to incorporate more water! I love water straight up and drink too much during the day then have to cut myself off at night unless I want to be running to the bathroom all night!
And I am right there with you on cooler weather. I can't wait for fall and football --over this hot weather unless I am at a pool or beach.
Tiffany, yea I hear ya on the running to the restroom part!! LOL
Chicago tends to have Indian Summers too, so it usually gets Fall Weather in like October. Alas.....
;-)
Mmmmm water. I'm swimming in it most days:)
Question 1-- Crossfit made me face a ton of things I have never thought about like 20" box jumps, pull-ups and handstand push-ups. YIKES! The biggest goal I faced down was a 1/2 marathon. Never in my life did I feel I could yet I DID...3x. A TRI is next!
Question 2- Jessica B for sure! I have many fitness crazed friends who inspire me. EVER female coach at Crossfit Central is ripped and that is motivation!
Question 3-Brooks on account of my size 10(11 in sneaks) feets. Hello big foot!
I am so ready for fal too...I am so OVER this summer! SO OVER!
Barbara, how long did you train for your 1/2? I'm really excited and NOW you've added one more thing I must try to my list; Cross Fit! I hear nothing but great things about it!
Kelly- TOTALLY. I want coats, burning leaves, spiced cider and that "crisp" air feeling. Wow I sound like a commercial.
Congrats on completing your first week! And I'd have to say that Jessica Biel is quite a fitness inspiration. She's soo sexy and strong. I also like Shakira. She's fit and she can move her body in such an amazing way. This is going to sound cheesy but my mom is as well. She's dedicated and makes time for herself to do her workouts. She enjoys them and she is loving her increased strength. She's not afraid to ask other women that she admires on tips, which is awesome! My uncle too! He's a true athlete and excels in all areas--he's possibly already 50? But he's in great shape, runs in the mountains, kickboxes in the park, stretches seriously, lifts some serious iron, and he use to be a world-class soccer player until he broke his achilles tendon. Whenever I go to Colombia it's so much fun to train with him.
As for running shoes I love my Mizuno wave rider 13 shoes. I use to just get New Balances (which aren't bad), but once I tried on a pair of Mizuno's.... they just felt right!
I wish I would still be down in south Florida when you get here! I know you're going to enjoy it. It's hard not to :D
XOXO
Congrats on kicking the soda! I'm still trying to figure out how to leave coffee behind me...caffeine is no joke!! I'm an addict for sure!
Jessica B is definitely someone I'd love to be able to get my body like...sadly, genetics will probably never allow that. But, it never hurts to try!
Kelly girl, i just had an 'a ha' moment...from YOU yesterday. It happened when i was eating arvo tea (3pm), i wasnt even hungry, i barely even tasted what i was eating (mindLESS eating!), and after i finished that meal, i wasn't 'satisfied' and started grazing on almonds (and other things that i wont even list ;-) ...I remembered you saying in one of your vlogs months ago 'eating 5/6 meals a day give you 5/6 more 'opportunities' to overeat - 'a ha'!.. On the days i'm not doing ESE, i'm still doing the bodybuilding 5 meals/day (though i did cut down on size of breakfast because i'm not actually hungry then). What i realised yesterday was that my (small) breakie, morning tea (which is my post workout meal/supershake), lunch and dinner are meals that i am hungry for, i eat slowly and i enjoy them. I also stop eating once i am full... But this arvo tea meal is a meal i 'force' down for the sake of 'meal timing' and it ALWAYS seems to be a 'trigger' to overeat...So for that reason, as of today i am going to see what happens when i cut it out and just wait till dinner time (630/7pm) to have a meal that i am 'hungry' for and looking forward to....Are you still only typically eating 3 meals/day? =)
Chelle, right now I'm at a bit of a crossroads with "diet". Only because now that I'm running so much PLUS my weight training - I don't want to impede weight loss by not eating enough. I have NO intention of ever going back to 6 meals a day, I hate that. For me, I am thinking that cappuccino first thing followed by my morning workout. Post-workout will be Shakeology, or if I workout LATE in the morning, I'd just go ahead and have a good solid lunch, then Shakeology in the afternoon. I want to do Shakeology once a day for the supplement/nutritionals/vitamins that are in there. And like you I am focusing on eating slower, really focusing now on "real" foods (no diet foods, I cut out soda and such) and no MINDLESS eating. Really cutting back on dairy too because too much of it upsets my tummy.
Nicole, I've had to embrace my curvy Kim Kardashian type body and realize that as much as I'd dream to have Jen Garner's physique, it will never happen. However I finally embrace my shape and I Just want the FAT gone, the extra padding on top of my muscles GONE. I will make it happen!!!
Katharina- wouldn't that be fun to meet!! It will happen eventually! And I don't think it is cheesy at all about your mom; my mom and I are besties and I LOVE HER. Trying to get her more into working out and she IS!! ;-)
The 1/2? Um...4 months. I know bad me. the last one I just ran without training..not smart. You see, my friend and I had just planned to walk/job the first 1/2. Low and behold...we ended up running 98% of it. Say what?
I was SORE for a week though.
Hey, I'll be in NYC this weekend...shall I email you my cell? eh you prob have way too much going on.
Regarding Crossfit. Amazing, challenging, humbling....worth it!
Barbara, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see you, but I will also set expectations; BlogHer will be madness but yes, kellyolexa@Gmail.com with your cell.
And 4 months isn't bad to train!!! Come on! That's awesome!
