My Future Fitness: Crystal Ball Vision.

Here's what I have to say after my 1000 Calorie Burn Sweatfest this morning: WOOT! It felt GREAT to be on the track again today and I made some progress on my run as well! I don't know about you kids but I tend to view my weeks as Sunday-Saturday, so today is like the last day of this week for me and I start again tomorrow. I headed out early- even in the midst of a potential "it's rainy" excuse- to the track. Luckily it had stopped raining and the temp was around 77 degrees. Lovely. I did one lap warming up then 4 laps running at about an 11 minute mile. Then I walked a lap and did 2 laps running at a pace equal to a 10 minute mile. Then I was getting a bit winded/crampy. I do think guys/gals that my cramping is more of a result of my body getting used to continual running. When you do HIIT or Insanity, you are going balls-to-the-wall for 30 seconds then stopping. With running, it is heavy impact and "non-stop", so I can see how that takes some getting used to.

Here is how the rest of my smörgåsbord run-workout looked like:

  • 1 lap walk at 4mph pace, followed by 4 laps run at 11 minutes.
  • 1 lap walk at 4mph pace, followed by 2 laps run at 5 minutes.
  • 32 Walking Lunges, then 16 straight leg front raise kicks (leg is straight and you raise it up to hit your hand, held higher than your head, alternating legs)
  • 4 sets of side squat jumps a la Jenny Lynn
  • Standing lunges, jump rope, squats Tabata-Style
  • 2 laps walking one minute, running one minute at faster pace, closer to 7mph
  • 32 more walking lunges, 32 leg kicks
  • Stretch
  • Came home and did one giant set for shoulders

Who's Your Daddy?

Kids, we saw SALT last night. If you want to get motivated to kick some serious butt, go see this movie. Angelina Jolie, who CLEARLY needs to eat several large pizzas, still is the queen of badass chicks. I can't wait to see it again. Seriously.

So, I was mentioning this a bit in my blog/vlog from yesterday, about using the latter half of 2010 to KICK BUTT. Time flies people. I feel like it was just yesterday I was saying "It's July 1st and it's the second half of the year!"~ now it is July 24th! And in these 24 days I was really REALLY sick for 10 of them. That bites. But I'm OVER that and because of how annoyed I am at getting sick in the first place, I'm committed to being MUCH more focused on my "diet" meaning; MORE BALANCE.

The second quarter of 2010 was when I discovered "Eat Stop Eat" which totally changed everything for me and really got me started with significant fat loss. AMEN. Now that the ESE approach has helped me conquer a LOT of unhealthy thoughts about "Good Food vs. Bad Food" and binge tendencies, I can focus on ADDING more variety and balance to my diet. No, I will never go back to eating 6x a day like a machine or worrying about "every meal must have protein" like I will drop dead if I have a veggie bagel sandwich sometime. What I will do is start taking my vitamins again every day. Yes, as we age (old people like me do, you know)we need to be proactive in supplementing the diet. I've missed my Green Monster smoothies made with Shakeology (I am including a link to my Shakeology website, so please note that yes, if you purchase from my site I will earn a commission, as I am an independent BeachBody coach.) and added spinach and banana. YUM. I also want to check out Coconut Water and coconut products as recommended by my BFF Amy, who is the one that got me started on running!! She's the bomb, even though she cheats on me by having other friends, but I'm down with that Amy. I'm cool. heheheh

Now, talk about variety in workouts! The themes you will see running through this site over the rest of this year and beyond are:

  • NO EXCUSES.
  • WORKOUT ANYWHERE, ANYTIME, ANYHOW- Killer, creative awesome workouts from home, no gym required.
  • VARIETY: Jazz it up, keep balanced.

Here's what my Future Fitness Crystal Ball Vision looks like:

A whole lotta running. And then some more.

Remembering to STRETCH.

Of course, P90X and Insanity!!!!

Outdoor workouts and some TRX Love.

Killer barre workouts that make that booty SING!!

Throwing in some TurboFire!!!

Y'all know how much I love my BFF @ChaleneJohnson. She rocks. Chalene will be making a guest appearance here soon, so stay tuned!!

Yoga and Down Time.

More awesomeness from my BFF @ValerieWaters. Talk about working the bootay! OMG! ValSlides and Val Bands will blow your mind!! Valerie will be making a guest appearance here soon!

Definitely sleep. Any trainer or doctor will tell you, getting a good night's sleep is KEY to optimal health and wellness. Make it happen. Make your bed the most comfortable fluffy cloud experience you can and focus on getting 7-8 hours! Period! Do it!

So here is my QUESTION OF THE DAY: Are you up for it? Are you game? What does YOUR Fitness Crystal Ball show you for the rest of 2010??

Sweatfest is right- all those walking lunges are making my legs ache just reading about them, never mind with Tabatas in between...

Barre Workouts? They look interesting Miss Kelly! ...My crystal ball says: Consistant training - 3x weights, 2 x boxercise, 3-4 outdoor walks plus a bit more running - you've got me pumped about running again! + BALANCED eating ESE style = 12% Body Fat, 6-7lb drop (thats all i got to go WOOT!), sexy six pack, photo shoots.... and maybe some fitness modelling!!! ....... Is that Jessica Biel in that running pic? She is cut! ;-)

July 24, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterChelle

My crystal ball looks similar to yours in spirit, Kelly. I am going to make the rest of this year, my best half a year ever so I can conquer some long-battled demons regarding weight, body image, health and fitness and feeling the victim instead of the master of my circumstances. I tend to go up and down in weight based on romantic or geographic misery, and I am putting an end to that.

For the next six months, my fitness plan includes:

-- eating between 1200-1500 calories max daily
-- trying to burn between 800-1000 calories daily
-- pretty much eating the Body for Life way, which is equal carb/protein/veggie intake
-- outdoor boot camp 4x a week till it gets cold (then I think they take it to an indoor gym)
-- running outside on the trails, both in city and country
-- P90X when stuck indoors

I'm not sure what else. I'm excited though!!! As you know, your constant motivation AND inspiration has helped me get to this point. Love you sister. XOXOXOXO

:-)))

I forgot to mention one of my fave things: Kettlebells! I love kettlebell workouts but haven't been doing them lately. Starting again today and will add in 1 or 2 a week of that training. Nothing rocks harder than my pink Punch kettlebell. LOL!

July 25, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterKris C.

KC, I LOVE Kettelbells too. So so much, I am ready to buy heavier ones now!! you GO GIRL!!

Hi Kelly,
Glad you're feeling better and back in to the Kick Ass Training.
Are those Shakeology shakes available in single packets? I would like to try them first before buying a whole 30 day supply! If so how much?
Thanks
Wendy

July 25, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterWendy

Hey Wendy,
I just checked and sadly you can't order the Shakes in less than a 24-pack. However, they do come with a 30-day 100% Satisfaction Guarantee, so if you choose to order one month, you can try them out and if you don't like them, return the remaining portion for a refund (minus shipping). I'm going to make sure in the future I have some of my own packets so I can send them out for folks to try but I haven't stocked up my house yet!!
;-) LMK girlfriend!! and yea, I'm back and ready to kick SERIOUS BUTT!

July 25, 2010 | Registered CommenterKelly Olexa

I'll be up for it once this hip is healed...I'm taking my month in the states OFF from weight training and jogging-I just haven't given it a chance to truly heal-so here is my chance.
It will be hard to NOT workout....I'm not good at it...but HAVE to do it in order to rally go full throttle when I get back.

In answer to your question on my blog...I will be in Oregon mostly plus a couple days in California. Don't suppose you'll be anwhere on the west coast in August? ;-0
cheers hon!

July 25, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterRaechelle

Ohhhh Rae Rae I don't THINK our paths will cross this time. Oy. But, you, take time to HEAL!! I'm praying for you! ;-)

My crystal ball says I am so not cheating on you :) and we are going to Miami and we are both going to show some hot abs. I think we should make a pack to put the before and after on this blog. I'll show mine if you show yours :D

July 25, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAmy

I'm all over that Miss Amy. All over it!!

July 25, 2010 | Registered CommenterKelly Olexa

I'm glad I found your blog. I'm brand new with Team Beachbody and I'm looking to network with as many coaches as possible.

I found this site from my upline coach at http://MyRecruitingSystem.com guy who runs that site recruited over 100 coaches his first month. Him and his wife took the top spot with the chairmans challenge that Beachbody was putting on and Carl is flying to their home to interview them.

He is allowing a few people outside of his team to use his system and it is awesome. I got the system and ad co-op and recruited 3 new coaches my first week. I also recruited my sister but I don't think she is going to do much.

Talk with everyone later

Hey Linda!! Thanks so much for the info! I have to be honest, I don't really try to work on recruiting for BB- I'm more about just sharing the great products, but I will look that over! ;-) Thank you!
