Monday Manjoyment.

I'd like to implement a new holiday. October 15th. Why? No idea. It just seems right.
#GoodHeavens #BreakMeOffAPieceOfTHAT
How is your Monday? Mine is fantastic.
I'm blogging late today because, well it's been that kind of day. I also reveal in my vlog(s) today what I was alluding to last week, and that is, after chatting with one of my online BFF's Jackie (CLICK HERE FOR HER FABULOUS BLOG) in regards to appropriate calorie counts and such, she told me about "Eat Stop Eat" by Brad Pilon. I know I had heard of this before and that Skwigg (Click Here For HER Fabulous website and blog) had also done a review, where she tried it out for 30 days. Anyway, I had only heard good things about it, but probably in the back of my mind I thought it wasn't a good thing. Well, after talking to Jackie and reading the eBook (you can order off Jackie's site), I realized that this was something I wanted to try. It's all about calories in vs. out and by incorporating this intermittent fasting 2x per week max for 2 separate 24 hour periods, you are creating a nice deficit in your weekly intake, therefore making the other days a bit easier to handle....you don't have to be as obsessive about calorie counting or low-carbing or any other eat-round-the-clock style of dieting. It is NOT a crazy concept and he does NOT advocate using the non-fasted days to pig out or "free day" approach. It's about sensible eating, but by breaking it up with fasting, creating that calorie deficit, you can handle the occasional office party or late night out a bit more easily.
Jackie did an interview with Brad Pilon the author, on her site, so check it out, and also see/hear my feedback after I incorporated two days of fasting last week. I'm quite pleased with how much easier it was than I thought, how much my stomach has shrunk from it (both in appearance but also in that when I eat now, I'm getting fuller faster) and also how this mentally makes you more aware of "TRUE" hunger. The next day, I find myself realizing, "hey I'm not really hungry right now".....PLEASE NOTE!! This is not - from the author or me, anyone saying that this is some dumb mental game to play to try and starve! Its just a more reasonable approach to eating like a human being. I have just never been in to this whole idea of creating scientifically balanced and proportioned meals and snacking all day long to "keep the metabolism burning" and all that. Not my thing. I don't believe it is wrong- it obviously works for many, just not for me.
Love to hear from any of you that have done this and what your thoughts are!!
To purchase the eBook from Jackie, you can GO HERE.
Also, part of the workout I did today was incorporating this Billy Blanks Bootcamp video- the whole thing is uploaded on YouTube- check it out!
This was a surprisingly tough workout. I say surprisingly because most of Billy's later produced material IMO was more beginner/intermediate in nature. I need a BUTT KICKING WORKOUT! ;-) This delivers. I burned 552 calories in about an hour, combining this and some of Tracy Effinger's Squeeze Stronger.
Also, here is some LL for further Monday Manjoyment Experience. Enjoy. OH DEAR.

OHHHHHHHH LL!!!
Man....He just gets better and better with age.
And he's not only drop dead gorgeous, but funny, smart, charming, engaging, and generally seems like a really nice guy.
MMMMMMM!
DUH and I totally forgot to mention I'm a huge fan of the IF (intermittent fasting)
I try to do it Fridays. Fasting Friday for me. makes sense...lol at least in my mind.
Hi Kelly,
Well you got me out of lurkdom with this post. Funny, I have often thought about suggesting ESE here, but I have had mixed reviews in giving advice about fasting. Too many people seriously subscribe to the meal-timing and starvation mode theories.
I am also going to go on record and say that meal timing works to lose fat, but it works because you are decreasing your calories, not because you are eating every 3 hours.
I have been using intermittant fasting for 2 years. I found Brad's book through Turbulence Training and it was mind-blowing and life altering. Maybe that is heavy-handed, but being part of the marching army of meal-timing and high protein eaters, MAN I was happy to find that info.
I immediatly put it to work and haven't looked back. 2 years and it is by far the easiest way to "diet" or maintain. And I am finally at the place where I maintain. A first.
I highly recommend it. It works. It is easy and it is painless. Yes painless. Sure there are times when I feel a bit hungry, but so what? It doesn't last and we don't need to run for the cupboards the minute a hunger pang strikes. ESE gets you back in touch with true hunger.
Not only did I lose the fat I wanted to, people tell me all the time I look 10-15 years younger than I do. THAT alone is worth it. I totally believe the fasting has had an aniti-aging effect.
Not only did you inspire me to come out of lurkdom, I have updated my poor long lost blog in honor of ESE and intermittent fasting. Because pictures are worth a thousand words.

Hey Jen!!! Thank you so much for coming out of lurkdom (hehe) and for writing in about ESE. I think you know I am totally with you on the anti-scientific eating idea. It's just ODD for me and frankly, when I look back at all the times that I've been most successful at getting my "leanest" or skinniest, it was NOT when I was eating "correctly" according to most diet plans, it was when I was just busy and eating a lot less. But eating less sometimes meant I had GASP a sandwich! Holy Moly! Or a cookie! OMG!! Yes.
Like you Jen I think that the ESE is going to be my WOL going forward and totally works in keeping me sane. You are awesome and I'm going to check out your blog now!
Shantel- MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM HE IS YUMMY!!!
Very very interesting .. thx for the info Kelly!
I am new to reading your blog (linked here via April- The Weigh I Am) and you have me cracking up with how utterly random and distracted you are in your vlogs. I LOVE IT! LOL. Definitely added to my google reader. Keep up the good work and GL with ESE.
Lindsay- yes, haha if there is one word to describe me- RANDOM!! Never know what you're gonna get!! ;-)
I had a funny feeling that you may had started incorporating ESE into your nutrition plan. I have read quite a bit about it through Craig Ballantynes' Turbulence Training blog over the past few months and was quite curious but also skeptical about the idea. (the body builder mentality in me!)
In many cultures, periods of fasting and/or restricted food intakes (e.g okinawans only eat till 80% full- hara hachi bu) have been done for centuries for optimal health and anti-aging properties. So its great to hear such positive feedback. I havent tried ESE myself yet, but have toyed with the idea. You may be able to answer this, but interment fasting could possibly break that deep ingrained emotional connection to food that is evident in people whom struggle with their weight???? Also, do you feel your training intensity is affected by lack of food consumed? =)
Once I stop drooling, I'll read the read of the post but I had to drool a little more! I just saw LL in concert in Indianapolis as part of the Final Four Concert series. Better in person. Will blog some pics soon!!!!
OMG I am so jealous Heather!!
