Here is your Tuesday Thrill.

Not a lot of time today kids. Was downtown on appointments. I have a well needed massage shortly. Amen. ;-)

I'm having a massive chocolate craving tonight. What is your favorite sweet treat?? That's my QUESTION OF THE DAY: What Sweets Rock Your World??

Gosh I love your videos! Glad you're feeling better.

My brother in law had to go gluten free for health reasons. I have had the urge a lot lately to try to go vegetarian with maybe some vegan thrown in. I don't know much about those lifestyles but they intrigue me for sure.

How is hot yoga? I have never done yoga..well one time I did a yogalates class and it was OK but not something I truly enjoyed.

Angie- the funny thing is, I don't have Celiac Disease or anything, and it is not like if I have wheat/gluten I get hives or a HORRIBLE reaction. BUT, what I do know is that now that I have eliminated gluten, #1 my seemingly perpetual bloating is gone and #2 I'm much "stronger" in being able to turn down 'bad carbs'. Who knows?
Also tomorrow night will be my first Hot Yoga session so stay tuned. ;-)

Hey girl, I had some cake and dessert at my uncles wedding (two weeks ago), and after being strictly GF for 6 weeks you wanna know what happened?! The BLOAT, big time! Total preggas look!. I think the mixture of wheat and sugar also brought on intense sugar cravings which wasn't good either, cause all i wanted was more lol. It took me 3-4 days back on a clean GF/DF diet to rid my body of all the fluid retention that decided to pay me a visit! As good as the food tasted at the time, it definitely wasn't worth the uncomfortable feeling of the days that followed. There are so many tastey GF options out there that i will definitely think twice before consuming any gluten again! =)

Chelle- I am so glad you told me that story. The pain just isn't worth it to me. I do find, like last night, that I still have my chocolate cravings. But, if I just have some good chocolate (dark) caramels, I'm fine and the next day - no stomach aches or cravings. Hey, if gluten free means I can have sushi and the occasional chocolate...I'm down.

Hey Kelly,

I was just wondering if you were still doing the three meals a day thing or adding in snacks. I go back and forth, but for sure, I always lose weight when I do 3 meals. Seems like a no brainer, but some days I have lots of trouble sticking to it. Do you find adding a little more fat to the meals helps at all? Thanks for the vlogs...love them!

If you find yourself getting colds like the one you described today, you may want to consider taking an L-glutamine supplement. it is a non essential amino acid that aids in muscle recovery and purportedly strengthens your immune system. It is naturally occuring in your body but can become depleted if you strenuously exercise.

haha I hear you - i've had a sweet tooth for almost a year now. Mostly for reese's cups, snickers and chocolate chip cookies.... or brownies. hehe

I'm SO jealous of your massage!

Glad you're feeling better so quickly!
That is interesting about what Chelle said....because that's exactly what I was thinking. If you have a problem with gluten, ie bloat, now, you will probably still have a problem with it in the future.

Though it's not the same thing-it is is similar to me and alcohol-I have a problem with it....I don't want to stop at just one...so I need to not drink it at all-and though the thought of never drinking it again somewhat "frightens" me (for lack of a better word)....I'm pretty sure that I must stick to that.
I guess my point is...if you have a reaction to certain foods now....bloat, addiction, etc-you will still have the reaction later after abstaining for a while-and it seems like the reaction could be worse because your body becomes so used to not having it in the system.

Other than that-you are looking lovely today dear! those colours are awesome on you! :-)
cheers hon!

Hey Meg- I am DEFINITELY trying to stay with the 3 meals. Only if I am super duper hungry will I have a snack, and I Try to keep that to like fruit or something. And- with my meals, I do have some "fat" like chicken salad~ I'm not using fat free mayo, and I made a roaster chicken and ate some with the skin. I'll also have steak sometimes which has some fat. My body is definitely adjusting. For me this works: if I Try to "graze" eat more and feel like I"m some pet in a cage being "fed", you know?
Atltri- I need to get back into taking my supplements/vitamins regularly; I've been bad on that. Thanks for the suggestion!!
Kelly girl whenever you visit, you have a full body massage, my treat. My massage guy is the bomb!! and Heck yea my sweet tooth is YEAR ROUND!! Dang!
Rae Rae- you know someone said that very same comparison to me the other day. I think it is helpful to look at it that way, in that, is it really worth it, risking everything for "one taste"? NOT!! ;-)

Two things:

One is the hot cocoa I told you about with the real unsweetened cocoa powder and the almond milk and some type of sugar or substitute.

Something else I made that was fabulous were these almond butter pumpkin brownies. The first time I made them with honey and they were great. The second time in an attempt to get the carb count lower I made them without the honey and I thought they were still really good.

Ingredients:
1 cup almond butter
¾ cup mashed pumpkin or other squash, canned or steamed
1 egg
1/3 cup honey
1 tsp baking soda

Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Mix well. Pour into a greased 8 x 8 in pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Serves 8.

I got the recipe here:

I can honestly say that I will never eat alfredo sauce again in my life. I think i've been 15 year without it. Once I saw the fat I just won't do it. I will however eat an entire container of peanut butter ;)

Check Elana's Pantry if you already haven't. She has lots of recipes that are GF.

February 25, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterApril

Cool. I think you'll like them. I forgot to add that I included some pumpkin pie spice, about a tsp and also a dash of nutmeg.

I got my husband some Zycam this morning cause he was whining he didn't feel well. I don't tolerate sick people easily. He better get well soon! I made him watch your video today. When he was getting ready to take his zycam he said "that girl said it's gonna taste like a sock"
I was like I DON'T CARE, TAKE IT!! lol

February 25, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterShantel

April- is Elana's Pantry a blog or a company? I'll google. ;-)
My word....Alfredo sauce from Olive Garden is - and I don't like Fettucine Alfredo- I just like breadsticks dipped in it. FOOD PORN. MMMMM. I digress. LOL
Shantel- tell your hubby, yes it tastes like a sock, but why do I keep taking it? IT WORKS!!! ;-)
