You CAN Do Anything.

You know when you watch action flicks and you have that tense feeling, wondering how that hero of the story is going to prevail and kick butt? And then they do, and you are like so AMPED?? Why do you think that can only happen in movies? I mean really kids, I slay aliens EVERY DAY like it is MY JOB. hehehe
Kicking butt doesn't just happen in the movies. Conquering the enemy - whatever that may be- doesn't just happen in the movies. You can be that ass kicker in real life. You simply have to choose to do it. I know I have, and it is changing my body, my mind and my life.
Don't misunderstand- kicking butt, that's just a general description for anything we want to conquer or achieve in life. To reach our goals, we usually will encounter road blocks and myriad impediments along the way. We have to learn to anticipate this and then learn how to conquer those things that get in our way. We have to learn how to incorporate a "Never Quit" attitude because when you understand that THE ONLY WAY TO FAIL IS TO QUIT, you will change your life.
This month, I'll be posting a lot about the lessons I've learned in 2010 and how they've made a huge impact on my life, well, actually how they are just STARTING to make a huge impact on my life. For the first time in several years, I am heading into the New Year with 100% Confidence that I will reach my goals AND THEN SOME. For the first time, I am truly happy with where I am so far, and I know without a doubt that I will blow my mind in 2011. I KNOW. I haven't had that inner awareness, that true inner confidence of KNOWING and TRUSTING myself to kick butt in a bigger way than ever before. For the first time, I'm pushing FEAR to the back seat. I have learned to recognize FEAR and face it HEAD ON instead of giving IN to it.

I had a colleague (with the same name as I have) enlighten me that my name actually means "Warrior". My former trainer Jay used to always call me a Warrior- an "UNSTOPPABLE WARRIOR" because he would create killer sessions to try and make me step out of my comfort zone and CRUSH IT. And I did. When I looked up my name and realized that indeed it does mean Warrior I realized how cool I really am. I mean I KNEW I WAS COOL BEFORE BUT NOW I'M EVEN MORE SO. ;-)
Part of growing and getting better- personally, professionally, spiritually- is understanding the mistakes you've made in the past, and figuring out how you can do better. If you think YOU are the underdog....OWN it. And then CRUSH IT!!
In 2010 I learned:
- Multi-Tasking is NOT a solution for doing more. Multi-Tasking means doing a ton of stuff with LESS focus and less-than-stellar-results.
- You truly cannot please everyone.
- Fear is the enemy. It will keep you from reaching your highest potential.
- Facing your fears head-on is liberating.
- Balance is refreshing.
- I didn't know my own strength, mentally and physically.
- I CAN do anything I set my mind to do.
- I AM TRULY UNSTOPPABLE.
- Life CAN begin again, time and again.
- When the going gets tough, I GET MORE TOUGH.
- Doubting yourself is just another form of FEAR, AND I WON'T HAVE IT IN MY HOUSE.
- How to trust myself.
-
Maybe you aren't in to action flicks like I am. I just know that yea, quite often, when I'm on that treadmill or getting in my running training for my next "first" 1/2 marathon, and I'm tired and stressed and thinking about LIFE STUFF, I dig deep and think of KICKING SOME SERIOUS A** and then I DO.

QUESTION OF THE DAY: What is your mantra/theme for 2011 success? Mine is NO FEAR.
Angelina Jolie,
Lara Croft Tomb Raider,

Fear isn't always the enemy. Without fear, there would be no courage, and without courage, there would be no heroes. Besides, fear keeps us from getting lazy, from letting ourselves get weak. Fear motivates us to win, in the end. The enemy, I think, is weakness in all its forms. Excuses are weakness. Surrendering to fear is weakness. Allowing someone to treat you poorly instead of telling them to piss off (and making them if you have to) is weakness. Allowing that doubt to grow into something bigger than what it really is, something that might stop you from doing what needs to be done, that is weakness as well.
Fear is your ally. It lets you know you're alive, that you give a shit, and that you are facing a challenge. It's good stuff. That knot in your gut just before you jump out of an airplane, flip the safety off your weapon in a doorway, stand up to a guy twice your size, hop off the pavement to pass a mob of cyclists in a final sprint to get around them and win or walk into your boss' office to tell her you quit, it exists for a reason. There's a sweetness to overcoming fear that can't be found anywhere else in our lives, and the strength we find in those moments stays with us forever. I guarantee that when you look back on your life someday, you will look upon those moments of courage, of bravery, of recklessness even with the most pride. Financial success, money in the bank, awards, medals, accolades, perfect sunny afternoons with loved ones... They will never matter as much as those little moments known only to you when, so possessed by the spirit of fear that you could feel it in your limbs, you stood up and pressed on, undaunted.
We give fear way too much credit for getting in the way. I say embrace fear. Seek it. If you don't fight fear every day, you're holding back. You're playing it safe. Add that extra 10lb plate and see what happens. Don't call the dude over to spot you. Climb that rope. Run that marathon. Go find out what your limits really are, and when you think you know, push through, then push through again.
Good list.
;)
Love love love what you wrote- and I agree. For me, it isn't fear that has gotten in the way I guess- it is ME giving IN to fear. Me staying in the comfort zone and wallowing in fear- even when I didn't recognize it as fear. For me, now that I can recognize when fear creeps in- I DO embrace it because it frankly motivates me to WORK HARDER and kick more ass.
Love what you wrote.
;-)
Olivier - i love what you wrote too!
Kellygirl, i can't believe your water bill is only $70 a quarter! I think we must be getting RIPPED OFF here in Aus! I just got my bill and it was $256 for the quarter and my water usage is HALF that of the average suburban household consumption!!.... I love that you have learnt so much about yourself this year and i know that you are going to conquer so much more in 2011. I'm not quite sure of my mantra yet but you'll be the first to know when i do! xo
"Multi-Tasking is NOT a solution for doing more. Multi-Tasking means doing a ton of stuff with LESS focus and less-than-stellar-results."
So true. I need to work on this one BIG time!
Great post, Kelly!
Hey Joanna!! For real, I have finally understood - by even testing it out- how much more effective I am when I give 100% to ONLY ONE THING- I finish faster and get way more done. It sounds wrong, because we are all so used to multi-tasking but honestly- it is so much better to NOT do it. ;-)
Chelle- it IS cheap in this area for water, but I'm gonna tell you at my last house, I paid $120 a month. There seems to be NO logic involved here!! LOL
Thank you for this...it's just what I needed today.
Go Kerri!! ;-)
:) no need for my comment. You know what I am thinking! xoxo A
My only mantra for 2011 is that "This year will be better than 2010! It will be a year of blessing!" 2010 hit us hard in so many ways - financially, emotionally, physically...I am counting on 2011 to be an oasis, a place of rest and refreshment. I do know this though, "God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, of love and of a sound mind!"
Glynis- all I have to say is AMEN to that one!! ;-)
Amy- that's RIGHT!! ;-) OXOX
Good for you on the cleaning out...letting go of those attachments is sooo refreshing!
My mantra for 2011-self suffiency. I can't wait to move to our new property and really stasrt getting things going-veggies, chooks, back to basics, eating what I grow and raise so I know it's done humanely and with the least amount of toxins as possible.

Rae Rae- I hear you on back to basics....I'll be blogging on this more later this week.
